All clients should be aware that the Revenue have been writing to individuals asking them to review certain elements of their tax returns, in an attempt to get individuals to pay the right amount of tax. This is not a formal enquiry but may result into one.

Some of the items that they are looking out for are:

High expense claims

Non-disclosure of bank or building society interest received especially for high earning individuals

It is really a chance for the individual to review these items and to make sure that the correct amounts are included on their return, and that claims for expenses can be sufficiently backed up.
